Where do we go when we arrive?
Look for the DC Kids logo marking the entrance at our Central location on Orange Avenue and our East location at Timber Creek High School. Look for the ‘Start Here’ sign at our Southwest location at Olympia High School. DC Kids check-in opens 15 minutes prior to each service start time and is offered at every location and every service. You will be required to complete a family registration form to check-in your kids the first time. This takes about 5 minutes to complete. To get the process started, you can download, print, complete, and bring it with you.
Will my kids be safe?
YES! Every child is given a name tag and a unique family number. That family number is given to you. We check name tags BEFORE any child is released and they are only released to the person with the matching number. To make sure you feel great about your kids time in DC Kids, you can request a pager which will vibrate if we need you. We have policies and procedures in place to ensure that your kids get the best care possible
What about the volunteers? Who are they?
Our volunteers are loving adults and students who love and care about kids and families. They have completed an application, had a comprehensive background check, and ongoing training. We follow classroom ratios as set by the Department of Children and Families to ensure the safety and well being of those serving as well as the kids in the classroom.
What will my kids do?
Kids ages 2 through Kindergarten are greeted at the room designed for their specific age group. Each classroom is filled with fun activities to get them thinking, doing, and learning as they rotate through different centers where they learn that God made them, God loves them, and God wants to be their friend forever.
1st-5th graders are greeted in the pre-service area where they can play games or work on crafts or just hang out with their friends. They transition to the ‘Warehouse’ for large group which includes the monthly virtue, worship, and of course all kinds of creative fun to get them thinking. Grade level Small Groups immediately follow where kids dive deeper to learn to put God’s Word to use in their everyday life.
What do you teach?
Although our curriculum changes from time to time, we primarily use 252 Basics© for our Elementary students and Crosstown© for our preschool students. It is our goal to partner with you to help kids KNOW, GROW and GO with Christ and when they graduate to thElement Middle School Ministry they have gained wisdom that will help them make the wise choice, trust God no matter what, and treat others the way they want to be treated.
What are your age groups?
We offer DC Kids Ministries for kids as young as 3 months all the way through 5th Grade.
What about Baptism?
We believe that Baptism is a confirmation of your commitment to follow Christ so we don’t baptize infants or small children. However, we do believe that children are a precious gift from God and that we should follow the example set in the Bible to ‘dedicate’ our lives to raise our children according to His Word. We offer a Family Dedication twice a year at all our locations. For more information, click here.
For kids who have made a commitment to follow Christ and which to be baptized we offer a Morphed Class prior to our Baptism Services which happen twice a year.
If my kids are different ages, can they attend the same class?
Our classes are geared around kids of similar ages, so we encourage them to try and go to their classes. However, if they have difficulty the first time, it’s OK, but we will encourage them to try their class the next time.
What if my child has special needs?
We have friends waiting to help with children who need a little more hands on care during our 9 am service at our Central location on Orange Avenue. We ask that parents let us know about their needs and best ways that we can serve them while in our care prior to attending the service. You can let us know in advance by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or let us know when you check-in.
