May Update

By May 7, 2020 May 8th, 2020 Coronavirus Update

Discovery family,

We miss you! We hope and pray that you are safe and well.  We are excited to share with you an update regarding our “Phase 1” re-opening plan.

It is very important to us that as we begin to reopen our facilities that we do all we can to ensure the safety and well-being of both our church community and our surrounding neighbors.  In order to help us accomplish this, we have assembled together a “task force” made up of both Discovery Church Leaders as well as a Medical Professional. We are meeting weekly to discuss the responsible and conscientious steps that we need to take to begin to reopen while keeping in alignment with our local government recommendations.

What does Phase 1 mean for Discovery?

    • We as a staff will continue to abide by all CDC guidelines.  We ask that anyone visiting our campuses follow the same guidelines for themselves.  There will be a brief health questionnaire to fill out upon arrival and entry into our facilities.
    • Starting Monday May 11, 2020, we will open our offices at all campus locations.  Our office hours will be Monday-Thursday, 9am-5pm.
    • All services and events will continue to be streamed online during our “Phase 1”.
    • All small groups will continue to meet virtually or offsite at the discretion of the group.
    • We will begin allowing small gatherings for counseling and meetings (limited to no more than 5 individuals in one space). We are asking that anyone who wants to come on property, please have an appointment.  To schedule an appointment, please contact the church office by either calling 407-855-3140 or email us at info@discoverychurch.org.
    • DCKids and Students Summer Camps have been canceled.  This decision did not come easy for us.  Although the camps are not for a few more months, there are just too many unknowns that do not allow for us to begin to plan accordingly.  However, both ministries are working hard on their contingency plans for the summer.  More information will be provided as soon as those plans are finalized.

We have provided below a link that outlines the factual data of Florida’s current status in regard to Covid-19, as well as a link to the recent governor’s address.

In closing, we encourage you to continue to stay the course!  Continue to grow and be strengthened by His Word and by our community.  If we can assist in helping you connect in the community or answer any questions, please email us atinfo@discoverychurch.org.  If we can pray for you, please send in your prayer requests to prayer@discoverychurch.org .

In this together!
